Legacy Fundraising (Full Day)

Legacies provide around £3 billion income for charities every year and an increasing proportion of this is going to small and local organisations. The average value of the 123,000 gifts currently left in wills each year is £25,000. The legacy market is experiencing strong growth with the expectation that by 2025 £3.5 billion will be left to charities via legacy giving. Stewardship – Retaining & Maintaining Donors (Full Day)

Stewardship is an often overlooked process but is critical to your charity. Stewardship is a mindset, a philosophical commitment to the way you value your donors and supporters – your tool to build and maintain their ‘life long’ relationships with your charity. This one day course is a chance for participants to identify who they should be thanking, which relationships to nurture and how best to go about it. Diversifying Income and Sustainability for Charity Leaders (PM Half Day)

It is a challenging time for the charity sector. The widely reported trend of an increased demand for services, coupled with income flat lining at best and decreasing for many, shows no signs of slowing. This workshop will consider what steps charities can take to strengthen their resilience, to diversify and expand their income in order to meet increased demand – and ultimately, continue to deliver impact. Effectively demonstrating your impact to your key stakeholders such as donors, grant makers, partners, trustees, media and staff is essential for securing ongoing support for your work. With an estimated 9,000 independent trusts and foundations in the UK giving £2 billion in grants each year, they are a prime source of funding for your charity. However, it is absolutely vital that you properly prepare your applications, undertake research and develop tailored proposals that meet their specific criteria. Developing Your Fundraising Strategy (Full Day)

This course looks at how to develop your Fundraising Strategy. It will provide a structured road map and relevant tools to enable you to link together organisational objectives and the areas you need to fundraise against, with potential fundraising sources. Recruiting and Retaining Trustees for Charity Leaders (AM Half Day)

This half day workshop will cover the following areas: Skills audits: developing a balanced and diverse Board and identifying your gaps; Recruitment process: role descriptions, advertising, interview process; Offering the role and integrating into the Board Induction: ensuring your trustees are equipped to carry out their role; Development and retention: keeping your trustees motivated, involved and able to contribute their knowledge, skills and experience. Risk Management for Charity Leaders (PM Half Day) 

A key responsibility for charity trustees is to ensure that there is a robust Risk Management regime in place. This supports the charity to deliver its mission effectively, enables the charity to seize opportunities as they emerge, as well as playing a significant role in the prevention of ‘disasters’ both small and large. Risk is an everyday part of charitable activity and managing it effectively is essential if the charity is to achieve its key objectives and ensure its funds and assets are safeguarded. In this training course, we will look at practical approaches to risk management from a charity leader and Trustee perspective. Supporting and Managing Volunteers (Full Day) 

On average, two-fifths of adults volunteer formally once a year and a quarter of adults volunteer at least once a month. The value that volunteering adds to the UK economy is in excess of £21.5 billion. For many small charities, volunteers are at the heart of the valuable work that they do. The challenge is in recruiting, supporting and managing these volunteers to ensure a successful volunteering experience, both for the charity and for the volunteer.
