Our next event in London will offer nearly 300 delegate training places, so that all small charities can access the skills they need to become self sustaining.

Training sessions cover a wide range of fundraising techniques and back office skills delivered by experienced and knowledgeable trainers.

Developing Corporate Relationships (Full Day)

This course has been designed to help you and your charity understand the opportunities for engaging with and working with companies. The course will look at the different ways in which companies may get involved with charities; whether that be through financial donations, gifts in kind, sponsorship or through employee volunteering. We will also explore the criteria and requirements that corporate supporters will be looking for when choosing which charities to support and how you can use these to identify and secure support from the companies that have the best fit with your organisation. Developing Community Fundraising (Full Day)

Community fundraising is large audience, lower return fundraising, but does bring many other benefits to the organisation e.g. supporter and volunteer recruitment, awareness raising and keeping a profile locally. The course will empower participants to mobilise the community around their organisation; to raise funds and awareness; to educate about their cause and campaigns and to recruit new supporters. Developing Your Earned Income – Enterprise Your Mission (Full Day)

It is increasingly important in today’s economic climate to maximise all opportunities that you have to raise income. Have you considered enterprising your mission? Diversifying Income and Sustainability for Charity Leaders (AM Half Day)

It is a challenging time for the charity sector. The widely reported trend of an increased demand for services, coupled with income flat lining at best and decreasing for many, shows no signs of slowing. This workshop will consider what steps charities can take to strengthen their resilience, to diversify and expand their income in order to meet increased demand – and ultimately, continue to deliver impact. Strategy and Business Planning for Charity Leaders (PM Half Day)

It is a key strategic responsibility of Trustees and charity leaders to ensure that the charity has a clear forward strategy and supporting plan that sets out the direction and priorities, in order to deliver organisational purpose. This course is designed to give charity Trustees and leaders an overview of the process of developing a strategy and business plan, to consider who they will involve in the process and how, and provide some useful tools and resources for developing, implementing and monitoring the strategy and business plan. The session will be interactive and there will be lots of opportunities to get insight and tips from other charity leaders. Fundraising from Trusts & Foundations (Full Day) 

With an estimated 9,000 independent trusts and foundations in the UK giving £2 billion in grants each year, they are a prime source of funding for your charity. However, it is absolutely vital that you properly prepare your applications, undertake research and develop tailored proposals that meet their specific criteria. This course looks at how to develop your Fundraising Strategy. Legacy Fundraising (Full Day)

Legacies provide around £3 billion income for charities every year and an increasing proportion of this is going to small and local organisations. The average value of the 123,000 gifts currently left in wills each year is £25,000. The legacy market is experiencing strong growth with the expectation that by 2025 £3.5 billion will be left to charities via legacy giving. Stewardship – Retaining & Maintaining Donors (Full Day)

Stewardship is an often overlooked process but is critical to your charity. Stewardship is a mindset, a philosophical commitment to the way you value your donors and supporters – your tool to build and maintain their ‘life long’ relationships with your charity. This one day course is a chance for participants to identify who they should be thanking, which relationships to nurture and how best to go about it. Major Donor fundraising is the fastest growing area of new income for charities in the UK and internationally. Major Donor fundraising is all about building and nurturing relationships with individuals, so that they want to invest in your organisation and the outcomes that you achieve. Participants will be introduced to an eight-step process in identifying and securing major individual donors: Identify – Research – Plan – Engage – Ask – Close – Thank – Steward. Getting the Best from your Board for Charity Leaders (AM Half Day)

An active, involved and committed trustee board is essential for the success of any small charity. The challenge many small charities face is in how to harness this and bring the board together as an effective team to support the long-term success of their organisation. This workshop course will go beyond the essential requirements of trusteeship covered in our Good Governance training workshop covering real world examples and practical exercises. Risk Management for Charity Leaders (PM Half Day)

A key responsibility for charity trustees is to ensure that there is a robust Risk Management regime in place. This supports the charity to deliver its mission effectively, enables the charity to seize opportunities as they emerge, as well as playing a significant role in the prevention of ‘disasters’ both small and large. Risk is an everyday part of charitable activity and managing it effectively is essential if the charity is to achieve its key objectives and ensure its funds and assets are safeguarded.
