Are you passionate about small charities? Want to help them deliver even greater impact? We are looking for new Associate Consultants to join our team.
At the FSI, we love small charities. Every day we are inspired by the amazing impact created by volunteers, trustees and teams working across the UK and internationally, and equally we work hard every day to help small charities make even more impact.
We do this by providing free and heavily-subsidised training, advice, and conferences, as well as specialist consultancy and accredited Fundraising Qualifications. When a small charity is just trying to get on with making a difference in the world, the challenges of raising funds, evidencing impact, and planning and governing effectively can feel overwhelming. We’re there, by each charity’s side, helping them navigate and sharing our expertise.
We are looking for talented individuals who can help support our training delivery and consultancy projects across a wide variety of topics and projects.
What we are looking for:
Excellent knowledge of the voluntary sector, and small charities in particular. You’ll need to understand the unique strengths, opportunities and also the challenges of working in a small team, ensuring your advice and support is tailored to suit the context they are working in.
Skills and attributes
Facilitative, coaching style with a strengths-based approach
Able to deliver confidently both face-to-face and digitally using different online collaboration tools.
Excellent writing skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Able to work highly independently while also being a strong team player.
A commitment and willingness to learn and be open to new perspectives.
As an associate consultant, you will need to have experience in at least one of the following areas:

Strategic planning – e.g. facilitating strategic conversations/away days, developing strategic and business plans

What we can offer
Transparent rates: we offer a fixed day rate of £300 per day to our associates. This is non-negotiable as it prevents us from creating pay gaps in our team.
Flexibility: The roles can be flexible around personal and other client commitments, for example some of our current team choose to work evenings and weekends for desk-based work as that is what suits them. Note that our training and client-facing delivery is generally Monday to Friday between 9-5 with some evening and weekend requirements.
Tools and resources to support your work: All our training courses are supported with a detailed session plan and trainer presentation notes. We have methods and processes in place to deliver consultancy projects and you will have the opportunity to shadow another member of the team to see these in action.
Access to learning: Our associates have access to FSI learning opportunities such as our conference events to further enhance their knowledge and skills.
A small and friendly team: We have six staff team members and currently, six associates. Our associates are very much part of the team and we make sure you are included in social and development opportunities.
