Small charities win free support to develop their future fundraising

The Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) have announced that over 80 small charities with turnovers under £50k have won free access to their brand new e-learning course, Developing Your Fundraising Strategy.

Generously supported by the Garfield Weston Foundation, this opportunity opens up one of the FSI’s most popular courses to small charities that struggle to access face-to-face training due to time, access needs, location, and other barriers.

Recent research shows that over 1 in 5 small charities fear they will have to close in the next 12 months (FSI Small Charity Index, November 2018). So it’s more important than ever that charity staff and volunteers have the skills and confidence to raise funds and secure their futures.

Bursary winner Eleanor Riley, Founder of small charity Made in Hope, says:

“I am so grateful for the FSI believing in such small charities that are trying their best. Our fundraising volunteers are always learning on the job as none of us has any qualifications or real experience in the field. So e-learning will allow us to work through the material together and help to transform our charity to become more financially sustainable, so that we can go on to help many more Tanzanian children”

Pauline Broomhead, CEO of the FSI, says:

“We’re excited to be expanding our online provision in response to growing demand from our members, and we are delighted to be able to offer this free of charge to these worthy bursary winners. We know it’s not always easy to get to a city for a full-day training, especially if you’re a very small or rural organisation, so we hope this course will broaden access to the vital support needed to help communities thrive.”

The e-learning course will be available for charities up to £5m turnover to purchase from Monday 19 November on thefsi.org. Prices are tiered according to turnover, from £25 – £95.
