Andy King: Community & Events Fundraising – From student to graduate to donor…
Andy King is International Events Manager for small charity East African Playgrounds, focused on ensuring children in East Africa can access their right to a childhood using the power of play. Last year, they raised nearly £600,000 from student fundraising, and in this session Andy will share his expertise and advice on how you too can maximise this valuable income stream.
Drawing on his own time as a student fundraiser, he will talk you through how to find student groups to approach, how to package an offer for them, and how to apply relationship fundraising principles to keep them engaged in the long term. Even if you think student fundraising isn’t for you, come along to see how it might work or how you could take the approach forward with other volunteer fundraisers.
About Andy King
Andy has been involved in student fundraising in one way or another since 2012. As the secretary, volunteering officer and president of Warwick’s Raising and Giving (RAG) society, the student fundraising coordinator for East African Playgrounds and now as partnerships manager overseeing the student and corporate teams at East African Playgrounds. He’s managed over 30 university relationships to great success – including a personal award from the National Student Fundraising Association for his contribution to the movement, growing student income at East African Playgrounds to be over £500,000 per annum and contributing to the success of the sector’s movement towards relationship fundraising. Andy is passionate about the ability of students to achieve and grow with a cause, and hopes by the end of the day you will be too.
