Recruiting: Chair of the Board of Trustees
The Forgiveness Project
The Forgiveness Project is seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees to support and guide the organisation through the next phase of its evolution.
The role of the Chair is to enable the Board to fulfil their statutory duties as determined by the Charity Commission and effectively manage and develop the process of governance. Central to this process are the core values of The Forgiveness Project: integrity; empathy; respect for each individual’s contribution, story and perspective; open reflection; and restoration.
The Forgiveness Project has developed a form of governance that models a process of exploration and inquiry, and the Chair will be expected to embody this ethos.
Organisational culture: The Forgiveness Project has a flat organisational structure in order to foster a supportive environment where collaboration is encouraged and a collective sense of stewardship is felt by all. While the ethos of TFP is non-hierarchical, there are clear reporting lines in order to facilitate effective decision making and implementation of the work. These support the shared and equal responsibility of all team members.
Our work: The Forgiveness Project collects and shares stories from individuals who have rebuilt their lives following hurt and trauma. We are a secular organisation working with people of all faiths and none. With our growing community of storytellers we develop resources and experiences to support individuals to examine issues and divisions in their own lives, explore difficult conversations and examine peaceful solutions to conflict.
We are looking for someone who is able to commit for at least three years in order to provide stability, and work with The Forgiveness Project to develop and implement a long-term vision of progressive governance.
The Chair provides inclusive leadership, ensuring the Board functions as a unit, to provide supportive governance to the Director and the team in order to develop the work of The Forgiveness Project and enable delivery of its objectives and wider strategic vision. Full details and the role description and person specification can be found here.
