What we do

Have a quick look…

The FSI’s principle objective is to work in partnership to learn, share learning and help build long-term sustainability and capacity in the Third Sector. We do so by delivering or creating the resources small not-for-profit organisations need to develop to have a greater impact on those they are set up to support.

Building partnerships with charities.

A central aim of The FSI is that we share our learning with others to facilitate their ability to be self sustaining, help them to implement that learning into their own charities and then work with them throughout the process until they are fully established and able to work without our support. We are delighted to announce that we are now accepting applications for a small number of new partnerships.

Facilitating world class training.

The FSI seeks to offer small/medium sized organisations the same opportunities as those afforded by larger organisations by delivering high level training and networking opportunities to raise the level of expertise within the not-for-profit sector.

Fundraising Drop in Clinic

The FSI fundraising drop in clinic is a chance for small charities to access experienced fundraising experts to discuss and receive advice on any issue relevant to them, free of charge*. The sessions run monthly and are with Pauline Broomhead, CEO and Kim van Niekerk, Director of The FSI.

Fundraising Events

Many smaller charities struggle to secure funding and do not have the resources or budget to arrange large fundraising initiatives; however, organising a fundraising event can bring revenue as well as awareness about the cause and interaction with the charity. The FSI host is a series of events, open for small charities to use for fundraising, so that they can have all the benefits without the burden on their own resources.

The FSI Forum Series

When we started The FSI it was with a vision to supporting the small charities who struggle to do the fantastic work they do every day, caught so often in the cycle of low income, low development. By supplying the sector with free opportunities to develop their knowledge and best practice we aim to leverage the capacity of the not-for-profit community, both within the UK and globally.

FSI Scholarships

The FSI Scholarship programme is designed to kick-start development opportunities for rising stars working for small Not-for-profits who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in fundraising. FSI Scholars have a passion for the Not-for-profit sector and to broadening their outlook and opportunities. The two year long FSI scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis to one individual each year.

Sharing Knowledge

The FSI is passionate about sharing knowledge. One of the ways we achieve this is through our website, used to share opportunities, stories, experiences and job opportunities.

Engaging with Government.

Identifying where we can work together to help individuals and organisations achieve social change and provide opportunities for all is an important part of The FSI's mandate and the reason why we network with Government, relevant lobbying bodies and organisations to create opportunities for dialogue.

Connecting Donors with Causes.

The FSI acts as a vital link between donors and those in need by partnering donated funds with the skills of The FSI. Donors thereby enable their gift to leave a lasting and sustainable impact instead of providing a short term injection of funding.
