Football Celebrity Opportunity
We've just read about this exciting opportunity in Third Sector Online and wanted to share it with you:
Win a top footballer for a day
Charities are being invited to bid for the services of a Premiership footballer for the day.
Each of the 20 Premiership clubs has pledged to provide one player to the Places for Players initiative, which is run by the Premier League. The league will also give £4,000 each to 120 charities.
Last year, Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley worked in a Scope shop for the afternoon, Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves handed out tea and library books at the Christie Hospice in Manchester and Middlesbrough captain Jonathan Woodgate volunteered at Teesside Hospice. The names of this year's players have yet to be revealed.
To apply, charities must fill in a form on the Premier League website explaining how they would make best use of the player.
The deadline for entries is 1 August.
A Premier League spokesman said the "most imaginative and worthy entries" would win.
This is the second year the initiative has been run.
