The Maria Watt Birmingham Foundation for Childhood & Teenage Leukaemia
The Maria Watt Foundation and The Liberty Rose Trust are working side by side to launch a new campaign called BCCA - BE CHILD CANCER AWARE. We believe that in order to achieve better outcomes for Children and Young People with Cancer that earlier diagnosis is key. Our main aim is to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the Cancers that affect Children & Young People with Parents, Teenagers, Young People and GP's. Cancer in Children and Young People is difficult to diagnose as Cancer is the last thought when a child presents with symptoms.
The Maria Watt Foundation has also funded a room in a Teenage Cancer Trust Unit and has also been involved in a number of research projects. In particular, MRD - Minimal Residual Disease in Leukaemia patients and Advanced Symptom Management to monitor and manage chemotherapy related toxicity in young people.
