TB Alert
Tuberculosis (TB) kills 1.7 million people a year worldwide (3 people every minute) and there are 9000 new diagnoses in the UK each year (more than HIV or leukaemia). Yet TB is curable if people are treated quickly. TB Alert raises awareness of the symptoms of TB in the UK and developing countries, and helps people in Africa and India access treatment. Just £25 can save a life. We also provide small grants to help patients in need in the UK.
Mission statement
Our mission is to increase access to effective treatment for all by: raising awareness to overcome barriers such as ignorance and stigma which prevent people with TB symptoms coming forward for treatment; ensuring that people with TB receive effective treatment and support in order to ensure treatment completion and reduce the risk of drug resistance; and by ensuring that people living in poverty, already vulnerable due to their living conditions and health status, are reached and supported.
