Greatwood

Greatwood was founded in 1998 and rescues and cares for former racehorses and endeavours to re-educate and rehome wherever possible. In 2006 the Horse Power Programme was developed and is a life skills and emotional literacy programme provided at Greatwood for children with special educational needs. 300 children a year learn social skills, communication and improve their life chances through interaction with the horses.

Mission statement

Greatwood provides fulfilling futures for former racehorses and children with special needs through their interation in unique programmes of rehabilitation and education in a caring environment.
