Forum 2009 – Richard Turner
Richard has been fundraising for over 20 years starting his professional career as sabbatical Rag Chair at Loughbrough Rag in 1989.
Over that time he has worked for 4 charities – Oxfam, FARM-Africa, Fauna & Flora International and is currently Director of Fundraising for the overseas development agency ActionAid. He was awarded fundraiser of the year by the Institute of Fundraising for the year 2000. FARM-Africa was also awarded the best 5 year fundraising strategy in 2002. He has also been a fundraising consultant and worked for the agency and consultancy, Cascaid, as New Business Director for 2 years before returning to the voluntary sector in 2007.
Richard has a particular interest in storytelling and how fundraisers should use this tool to win the hearts and minds of potential supporters.
