  • Organisations which encourage the wheel of learning, relish curiosity, questions and ideas, which allow for space experiment and reflection, which forgive mistakes and encourage self-confidence, these are learning organisations and theirs is a competitive advantage which no-one can steal from.

You know that feeling ‘you know when you know’.. About 3 years ago when Emma first started talking to me in that ‘what if’ way about supporting small charities my first thoughts were well we could start by letting everyone into the great fundraising secrets the big boys have been keeping to themselves for years.

No doubt about it they spend vast amounts of making sure fundraisers are well trained and have all the resources they need to do their stuff (larger charities spend just over 12% on fundraising while smaller charities spend as little as 5%). So it was more than a little reassuring to read the Third Sector Skills Research 2008 where it identified fundraising as the third most needed skill for our sector and the only skill that’s specific to our sector. Hope you agree the FSI is trying to fill that gap for you ‘if you haven’t already done so sign up for the Forum, a great way to learn about fundraising and this year we have Kay Sprinkle Grace coming over from the states she will be fantastic and turn all of you fundraisers into great dream brokers for you charities and your donors’..
